RAW Studios Photography are a group of creative professionals. We cover a variety of photographic projects in the North West of England from fashion to advertising & product pack shots to image manipulation. We have been published in a broad range of media, fashion websites and have won many awards, including three highly commended and several digital design awards.

We are based in Blackpool with photographic studio facilities, however we are available to work on location in Manchester, Liverpool, Blackburn, Lytham St. Annes, Preston and all over the North West of England. We also have acces to two Manchester based photographic studios, Studio Manchester & Sketch 360.

Our photographers started working in fashion photography way back in 1998 and have over 15 combined years experience in the medium. We love working on new projects and seeing ideas being moulded into finished pieces of artwork, ready to be published.

Some of our clients range from designer fashion brands like Eto Jeans of Blackburn - Irresistible Lingerie of Manchester and online clothes stores like Chic Unique of Manchester - Amabo, we also photograph many artists, models & performers wanting high end images for syndication. Throughout the website we refer to many photographic terms that may not be 100% clear, in this section we aim to clearly state what every service means & cut through some of the jargon.

Fashion Photography

Fashion photography is a type of photography that displays clothing and other fashion items that involves models. Fashion photographs are created for advertisements or fashion magazines such as Vogue, Elle, or FHM. Over time, fashion photography has developed its own style in which the clothes and fashions are enhanced by the presence of exotic locations or accessories. We have created many fashion advertisements that have gone on to be printed in magazines, high street windows, billboards & on buses throughout Manchester & the surrounding areas. Our photographic equipment meets the industry standard for creating top end, high quality fashion advertisements for magazines & billboards.
Our clients use this service to raise their profile through advertising & the photographs are one of the most important factors of the design. Current feedback shows that everytime our clients use our fashion photography in their advertisements website hits rise, customers become more aware of the brand & ultimely sales increase. Editorial Photography

Editorial photography is not so different from fashion photography but not necessarily designed for advertisements, many companies will opt for a series of photographs telling a story in a fashion magazine. These editorial photographs will display the style, cut & colour of the clothes with added emotion & feeling and we can work closely to create the style & story you would like to capture.
Editorial photography can be just as effecive for internal purposes or website promotion, editorial images can tell you everything you need to know about a companies brand. A well thought out set of editorial photographs that includes specific locations, carefully placed accessories or props & a story full of emotion can inform the viewer or customer the brands guiding beliefs or ideals that characterise the company. Used internally it can visually help your staff relise the same ideologies as the company or alternatively the photographs can benefit your website in the same respect to your customers.

Pack-Shot Photography / Invisible Mannaquin

Pack-Shot Photography or the invisible mannequin technique is a modern approach for displaying your clothes as if they were being worn, simply laying the garment on a flat surface to be photographed doesn't show the cut or the style of the item. When you consider how much time and effort you can put into the design & style of your clothing it can discredit the originality or uniqueness of the items when photographed flat, however with pack-shot photography the invisible shape of the mannequin displays the curves, cut & individuality of your designs. This feature on most modern clothing websites is considered by many as a necessity rather than a luxury & for e-commerce websites they simply couldn't operate.
We can create your pack-shot photographs within 72 hours of receiving your clothing & have the items returned to you less than 48 hours after you have confirmed receipt of the digital photographs. This service is a proven cost effective way of increasing sales to your website & our clients come back season after season to have their new designs created as invisible mannequins. We produce pack-shot photographs for a variety of customers. mainly designers & e-commerce businesses. Retouching

Retouching, airbrushing or digital image manipulation is a post production process that aims to enhance beautifully shot photographs, many people believe that it is a photographic technique that improves poorly lit or badly shot images, this is a misconception. Good fashion & portrait retouching should be invisible & the viewer should firstly see the quality of the lighting, composition & style of the photograph with the airbrushing added for that extra bit of quality. Digital image manipulation is not just for fashion, editorial & portrait photographic enhancement it can also be used for product pack-shots, creating invisible mannequins & making your clothing or products look their best.
Photographic retouching comes at an extra cost for fashion, editorial & portrait images & we beleive our service is still one of the most cost effective, highest quality & fastest turnaround on the market today.
Digital image manipulation is included in the price for product pack-shots.

Photographic Pricing Structure

We have tried to make our photographic pricing structure as simple and as transparant as possible & from our experience we have created a way of breaking down our prices for each photographic service we offer. Where possible we have tried to place an exact price on our photography services & detail what you will receive in return, you will be able to find this below each set of photographs under each section; Product Pack-Shots / Invisible Mannequin, Fashion / Commercial / Editorial, Portraits / Portfolios & Retouching / Digital Image Manipulation.
For product pack-shots or invisible mannequin photographs our prices start at £12 for a single item, this includes digital image manipulation to ensure the images we create make your designs look as good as possible. Every body loves a deal & the most popular request when we take up any photographic work is 'can I have a discount?' Our product pack-shot pricing structure has been designed to offer our clients an oppurtunity to reduce their costs by providing us with more items to photograph & for orders more than 25 items the price is reduced to only £9 per item. We have spent a great deal of time researching our competition and we are confident you will not find another pack-shot photography service provider than will offer a better product for the price. The invisible mannequin technique is a time consuming photographic process which includes two elements, one creating the photographs at the capture stage and two, completing the image in Photoshop. To ensure we create the best possible pack-shot photographs we need to spend a pre determined amount of time on the item, we cannot reduce the price anymore as it would make the time spent counter cost effective: less time spent = lower quality.
For fashion, commercial & editorial photographic services no two jobs are the same & for this we have created a half day rate & a full day rate. For every set of images we create our clients like us to add an extra bit of sparkle with digital image manipulation & this photographic service is explained lower down this page. The price includes travel costs, phone & email consultations, a set of high resolution photographic contact sheets within 24 hours of the shoot, advice on digital image manipulation & FTP transfer of photographs within 72 hours of image order confirmation. (94 hours including digital image manipulation) The half & full day rate reflects our fashion photography experience & quality of equipment and our clients tell us how satisfied they are in the photographs we create for them. Client satisfaction is paramount to us and it is one of our promises as part of our brand identity campaign, for your money you a purchasing a professional photographic service from experienced photographers & we will guarantee 100% satisfaction & value for money.
We apply the same amount of professioanlism for our model portfolio, beauty portraits & head shot photographic services & our prices are as transparant as our pack-shot photographs. Underneath the images on our portraits page you will see the prices & content of the photographic service, as with all of our products we beleive they are the best value for the quality, speed, creativity & professionalism.
Digital Image Manipulation or photographic retouching is a service that needs to be applied with love and care, the photographs we create are composed, lit & focused professionally which leaves little need for photographic retouching. Where needed we are happy to add that little bit of sparkle with digital image manipulation & we have priced this service at £12 per image, this includes subtle retouching to enhance the photographs. We beleive good retouching should be invisible & you can be confident your images will look good enough to print in magazines. We do not charge travel expenses for any jobs west of Manchester, above Liverpool & below Lancaster, we also offer no travel expenses within a 20 mile radius of Manchester City Centre.

For all clothes, accessories & garments trusted in our care we supply a "care of goods" contract, this is your insurance that you will receive your items exactly as they were sent to us. A worry some of our new clients have is "will my garments be OK being sent out for website photography", & naturally this is a genuine issue. Website, clothing, fashion & editorial photography is our business & we our aware of the barriers companies face when trusting photographers with their clothes, that's why we have introduced a contract to give our clients the piece of mind.

Where do you work & can you travel?

We are based in Blackpool, however most of our work is provided by Manchester & the surrounding area businesses. We have the use of two photographic studios in Manchester City Centre & can work on location in your Manchester or other North West premises. Please email us in advance your photographic brief & if you need the use of our Manchester City Centre Studios. All our photographic prices include travel expenses within a 20 mile radius of Manchester City Centre for any photographic work west of Manchester above Liverpool & up to Lancaster travel expenses are also included. For any work south & east of Manchester we charge a small fee of 35 pence per mile.
The two Manchester based studios we have acces to are Studio Manchester of Hulme Street & Sketch 360 of Lower Ormerod Street, both are in Manchester City Centre & both have parking facilities.
Studio Manchester is a ground floor studio & is availalble to hire from £110 per day + VAT & Sketch 360 is availalbe for the budget concious at £75 per day however this is not a ground floor photographic studio.
If you are availalbe to travel from Manchester to our Blackpool based photographic studio once again the price of the use of the room is included in our prices.
We have worked with a variety of Manchester, Liverpool, Preston, Lancaster & many other fashion related businesses, & we love to get out of the office to create our photographs (no distance is too far, just email or call us with your photographic project & we will be happy work with you on creating your fashion, commercial, editorial or pack shot / invisible mannequin photographic brief).
